The exhibition ‘For Bread and Freedom’ was prepared by the Feminist Kitchen together with the association ‘Silver Rose’ that consists of sex workers and those supporting their human rights and dignity protection movement. The exhibits featured were received as a result of several workshops held by Vika Begalska in the autumn of 2013, Saint Petersburg.
Moreover, there will be presented a joint work by the Yalta artist Andrey Orlov and a sex worker Lena, ‘The Prostitute Cop’ (acrylic canvas) and an installation created by ‘Silver Rose’ - Barbie dolls in compromising positions, embodying sex workers with their addresses to the Russian authorities. The exhibition ‘For Bread and Freedom’ was aimed at tackling sex workers stigmatization through public morals; providing them with an opportunity of public speaking and active engagement of sex workers into sociocultural processes.
